I was watching an episode of Tyler’s Ultimate on the Food Network, and he was making homemadegranola to go with his “Ultimate Breakfast”. When I saw how mind numbingly simple it was to make, I decided to give it a try, considering I eat the stuff like it’s going out of style. I decided to give it a shot.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 4 Cups old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 Cup Flax seed
- 1/2 Cup brown sugar
- 1/4 Cup honey
- 1/4 Cup vegetable oil
- About 2 tsp vanilla extract
Mix the oats, flax see, and brown sugar in a large bowl and set aside. In a small sauce pan, heat the honey and vegetable oil until it starts to boil. Mix in the vanilla extract and let it simmer for a bout a minute longer. Thoroughly mix the honey and oil into the oat mixture, then spread evenly over a baking sheet (I usually line mine with parchment paper to make clean up a breeze), and place in a 300 degree oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. Gently stir the mixture on the pan, and heat for another 15 to 20 minutes.
